Knuckles Limited Series Breaks Records in 1st Weekend

The Hollywood Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise has been doing quite well for itself, and now we can say the same for the limited series Knuckles. Knuckles began streaming on April 26 on Paramount +, and it’s already broken records for the streaming service. For one thing, with four million hours (and then some) streamed over its opening weekend, it’s the most successful original show on Paramount+. Not only that, it’s the most successful children’s show Paramount+ has.

Not surprisingly, lots of Knuckles viewers also checked out other parts of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, leading to a 278% rise in viewership compared to the day before.

Paramount+’s Executive Vice President of Programming, Jeff Grossman, remarked, “The Sonic the Hedgehog fans came out in full-force. We’re so thrilled with the record-breaking performance of Knuckles and the incredible lift the whole Sonic universe has experienced following Knuckles‘ premiere.”

In the series, Idris Elba plays Knuckles, Adam Pally plays Wade Whipple, Ben Schwartz plays Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey plays Tails, and Tika Sumpter plays Maddie. These are all the same actors as in the movies. Other actors lending their voice talents include Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, Stockard Channing, Edi Patterson, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Rory McCann, and Rob Huebel.

The Knuckles show was created by John Whittington and Toby Ascher. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also involved with the series’ writing.

Paramount + gave this description of Knuckles:

The new live-action event series follows Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior. The series takes place between the films SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3.

Have you checked out Knuckles, and if so, what did you think?
